Restoration of Lithuanian’s Independence day is March 11. In 1940 the Soviet Union occupied an independent state of Lithuania. The first meeting of the Supreme Council of the Lithuanian TSR began on the evening of 10 March 1990. During this period, the Voice Calculation Commission, the Mandate Commission and the Secretariat of the First Session were elected and approved.
Two meetings were held on 11 March, but the Russian Federation recognised Lithuania’s full independence by signing an agreement with Lithuania on 29 July 1991. And so that day March 10 is now known as the Restoration of Lithuanian’s Independence.
